What does the countdown include?
Standard countdown
For a future target, today is day zero: the starting date is excluded and the target date is included. Matching dates return zero days.
A leap-day example
From February 28 to March 1, 2024 is two calendar days because February 29 falls between them. The same dates are one day apart in a non-leap year.
Weeks and remaining days
The weeks result divides the calendar-day total into complete seven-day blocks plus a remainder. A 17-day countdown is displayed as 2 weeks and 3 days.
Weekdays are not business days
The Monday–Friday count does not remove public holidays. For a shipping, payroll, or office deadline, use the business-days calculator.
Past dates and exact times
A past target is labeled “ago” and keeps a positive distance. This is a calendar-date count, not an hours-and-minutes timer, so local time zones and daylight-saving changes do not alter the result.
